A Perfect Smile With All On Four®

When you lose your teeth, either one arch or both, it can be a very traumatic experience both physically and emotionally. Tooth loss occurs for several reasons such as oral trauma, periodontal disease, or just genetics. When this happens, many people will either get a bridge or crown or opt for dentures. All of these solutions feel less than natural and can come with many unintended complications.

There is, however, a solution that is both permanent and feels, looks, and functions just like natural teeth. All On Four® Dental Implants in Corpus Christi are becoming more and more popular as patients become aware of their superior fit, form, and function.

What You Should Know About The Procedure

While the procedure is typically more expensive upfront than other methods of tooth replacement, they provide superior benefits. Additionally, over the long term, dentures can end up costing the same or more!

The implants used are stronger than natural teeth and generally last at least 20 years with proper care. So, it’s really a good value.

The bottom line is that for one or more arches of missing teeth, All On Four® is the best all-around solution, hands down. This procedure permanently solves a temporary problem—but naturally, there are some minimum qualifications you must meet to receive this procedure.

All On Four uses four strategically placed dental implants that a permanent full arch of teeth is secured to. The teeth are very much like a traditional denture, but unlike dentures— they’re permanently affixed to the jawbone. This helps maintain bone strength, facial definition, and normal oral function.

However, to facilitate the implants patients are required to have healthy gums and adequate bone. A patient must also be committed to excellent oral hygiene and regular dental visits, as these are critical to the long-term success of dental implants.

The All On Four procedure does require surgery and some minor follow-up care. Since a titanium post is drilled into the bone to anchor the crown, there is a small recovery period before the permanent restorative can be affixed.

This is not a procedure you just walk into any dentist to have performed. You want a specialist who is specifically trained to perform the All on Four® procedure.

Dr. Vela has performed many All on Four® procedures for patients over the years with overwhelming satisfaction.

What To Expect During The Process

You already know suffering from missing teeth can be a difficult ordeal. However, even though going to an All on Four® specialist may seem a bit nerve-racking, it is hands down the best option for restoring your smile and preventing further oral damage.

Advanced techniques used here at Vela Dental Centers along with state-of-the-art technology have made Dr. Vela a highly sought-after referral for full mouth reconstruction in Corpus. So that you feel a bit more comfortable with the process, let us give you a rundown of what goes on when you visit Vela Dental Centers for your procedure.

Initial Consultation

The first visit is a scheduled consultation with an All On Four® consultant or Dr. Vela himself. This first step is crucial as it’s where you begin exploring the option of All on Four® as as well as some general information is gathered.

During the consultation, you will receive a comprehensive examination which usually involves a review of your medical and dental history. X-rays will be administered and impressions of your teeth and gums will be taken so we can create models.

Occasionally, if circumstances deem it necessary, we will order a CT scan as well. This entire process allows us to see how much jawbone is still intact, as well as locate nerve endings, we don’t want to disturb during the process.

The results of the CT scan may indeed show that there isn’t enough jawbone to begin surgery, and, in that case, we may discuss options like bone grafting to build up the jawbone.

Implant Placement

If there is enough jawbone to perform the surgery, the next phase kicks in and this is where the implants are actually placed into the jawbone.

This is accomplished by drilling a hole into the jawbone to insert the post. Accurate placement is of utmost importance and is achieved with a plastic surgical guide that is manufactured to meet the needs of your procedure.

Temporary Restoration

After the implants are placed, a temporary restoration, such as a denture will be attached to the implants. This will allow you to eat, speak, and smile normally while your gums heal around the implants.

Making Your New Smile Permanent

Once the implants have healed, your permanent prosthetic is placed and will feel natural, look natural, and function like normal teeth.
